Station Manager- Tarbert & Peaking Plants Generating Stations

Base Location: Tarbert, Ireland.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Station Manager at our Peaking Plants Generation Station in Tarbert, Ireland. This is a key leadership role, where you’ll be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the Tarbert site and all remotely operated generation sites.

Some of your other accountabilities will include;

• Driving year‑on‑year performance across the Station, as well as shaping both the short and long term strategy for Tarbert and the wider Peaking Plants portfolio.
• Lead and coordinate the Production, Engineering and Process Support teams, driving high standards in safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.
• Liaise with external regulatory and legislative bodies, ensuring clear and accurate communication is maintained at all times. You will also work closely with SSE Thermal Energy Markets to help maximise the commercial contribution of Tarbert Power Station and the wider portfolio.
• Support SSE Thermal Operations’ business goals by fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across all operational activities.

To be successful in this role, we would like you to have;

• Proven experience operating in a similar level leadership role, with a robust understanding of the operations and maintenance of power stations or other process plants
• Demonstrable ability in affectively liaising with and influence stakeholders at all levels to ensure key deliverables are met.
• A robust understanding of the business processes associated to the operation, maintenance and control of power plants
• The drive and passion to seek continuous improvement, actively seeking best practice and opportunities from the external market.
