The role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join SSE’s in-house legal team as a Property Solicitor, where you’ll play a meaningful role in enabling the safe and responsible delivery of our energy infrastructure. Working across a diverse portfolio of onshore and offshore projects, you’ll provide trusted, thoughtful legal guidance on property matters - supporting colleagues and stakeholders with care, clarity and integrity. You’ll be part of a collaborative and values-led team, where safety, respect and doing the right thing underpin every decision we make.

You will

- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of property and land agreements (including leases, purchases, options and servitudes), ensuring all arrangements support safe, sustainable project outcomes

- Provide clear, balanced legal advice to stakeholders on property matters, helping them navigate risks with confidence and care

- Develop and manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring high-quality support and best value for the business

- Offer guidance on a variety of wider legal queries and agreements, contributing to well-informed and responsible decision-making

- Collaborate with the wider legal team, supporting a culture built on trust, continuous learning and shared accountability for safety

You have

- Qualification as a solicitor in Scotland, with around 2-5 years’ PQE (flexible depending on experience)

- Strong experience in property law, including drafting and negotiating agreements, title investigation and handling registrations

- A collaborative and supportive approach, with the confidence to work independently while staying connected to your team

- Clear, thoughtful communication skills and sound commercial awareness, with a focus on achieving safe and positive outcomes

- A well-organised, proactive mindset, with an interest in the energy sector (experience here would be a bonus)
