Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

About the Role:

The Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Assurance Specialist is a highly technical, competent, professional role in the SSEN Transmission SHW team that ensures the SSEN Transmission business establishes and maintains a robust, fit for purpose and assured SHW management system and associated assurance arrangements. This position is integral to guiding risk-based SHW practices to ensure SSEN Transmission is kept informed of the level of compliance with SHW duties imposed by statute and Group standards, and the effective auditing and assurance activities based on approved arrangements.

Effective engagement with stakeholders is essential to develop, implement, maintain and assure SHW arrangements which deliver safe outcomes for our people and customers.

With responsibilities for the whole SSEN Transmission business the role requires a degree of travel for stakeholder engagement and attendance at company and contract partner meetings.

 You will 

- Play a lead role on SHE Audits and communicate on SHE compliance with SSE standards, SSEN Transmission policies and procedures and relevant regulations.

- Provide collaborative SHE Assurance support and guidance is provided to enable the SSEN Transmission Business to manage their SHE risks.

- Support the development of the risk-based SHE Assurance program with relevant aims, objectives and protocols in conjunction with the SHE Support Manager. 

- Facilitate the management and delivery of Transmission Project Safety Reviews (PSR) which are a critical component of the SSE Large Capital Projects governance process. 

- In order to implement SSE Group and SSEN Transmission requirements, key SHE projects may be assigned to the SHE Assurance Specialist by the SHE Support Manager to be championed within the SSEN Transmission business.

You have:

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Degree level SHE qualifications or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in an electricity Networks business or major construction business.

- Lead Auditor qualification and/ or extensive experience preferably gained within an electricity Networks business incorporating best practice into SHE audit processes in large organisations.

- Sound knowledge of the SHE aspects of design, planning, construction, maintenance and operational field practices in the electrical transmission/ distribution industry.

- Well organised, structured, systematic approach, with the ability to identify and analyse complex technical issues, understand risks and implement appropriate solutions.

- Good ability to organise, prioritise workload under own initiative and critically assess own performance.
