The role

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will join SSE’s Data Platform team to drive analysis across complex data platforms and enable the delivery of high‑impact, data‑driven products. You will play a key role in SSE’s transformation by shaping scalable, well‑governed data products, ensuring strong data quality and lineage, and enabling better operational, commercial, and strategic decision‑making through trusted insights.

Working closely with Product Owners, data engineers, architects, and senior business stakeholders, you will provide analytical leadership across the data lifecycle from defining requirements and data models to managing dependencies and risk. You will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex data and technical concepts into clear, value‑led outcomes, while also supporting the development of analysis capability and best practice across SSE’s data community.

You will

  • Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of complex business, product, and data requirements across SSE’s data platforms, ensuring alignment with data strategy and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Data Product Managers, and delivery teams to shape and govern the data product backlog, providing leadership in backlog refinement and dependency management.
  • Define data models, facts, and dimensions, and produce complex data mapping and lineage artefacts to create scalable, reusable data products for multiple analytical and reporting uses.
  • Provide senior oversight of testing and validation for data pipelines and analytics outputs, proactively managing data quality, lineage, and governance risks to ensure compliance with standards and audit requirements.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders, oversee analytical outputs using tools such as Power BI, Databricks, SQL, and Python, and coach analysts to enhance data analysis capability across the organisation.

You have

  • Significant experience as a Senior Product Analyst, Product Analyst, or Data Analyst working on complex, data‑enabled products within a large, enterprise environment.
  • Strong, practical understanding of data platforms and analytics concepts, including data modelling, metrics, dimensional modelling, data quality management, and lineage.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern data and analytics tooling, such as Databricks, SQL, Python, Power BI, or equivalent cloud‑based platforms.
  • Proven experience operating in Agile product‑led environments (Scrum / Kanban), including backlog ownership, refinement, and prioritisation using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead stakeholder engagement at multiple levels, translating complex technical and data concepts into clear, outcome‑focused narratives.
