Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations - Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £36,200 - £54,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

The role

As a Regulation Analyst in SSEN Transmission, you will be at the forefront of one of the most significant transformations in the UK energy sector. In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting the delivery of our ambitious RIIO-T3 Business Plan, supporting the over £30bn Investment programme, which will significantly expand the North of Scotland's transmission network. Contributing to work in a cross functional projects team in a matrix environment, you will support and collaborate with other team members on a wide range of issues. You'll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, working under pressure, and taking ownership of multiple priorities and deadlines.

You will

  • Analyse and interpret regulatory, financial and project data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing accurate and timely regulatory reporting packs, submissions and management information for Ofgem and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the integrity, completeness and consistency of data used in regulatory reporting through robust validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities.  Investigate data anomalies, challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, efficiency and data quality.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across project, finance, commercial and engineering teams to gather, validate and interpret data required for regulatory reporting and submissions.
  • Support the development of regulatory submissions, funding requests and evidence packs, helping to secure approvals and funding for key network investment projects.
  • Present findings, analysis and recommendations clearly and concisely, supporting understanding and informed decision-making across the organisation.

You have

  • A degree level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. economics, finance, business, science, engineering or law) and/or experience in a similar analytical, reporting or regulatory role. Experience in utility regulation, energy or compliance would be advantageous, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a passion for the energy sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information from multiple sources, identify discrepancies, understand risks and draw well-reasoned conclusions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data accuracy, quality and integrity.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, with the curiosity and confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions and identify improvements combined with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.  The ability to explain complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience of Power BI or other reporting and visualisation tools would be advantageous.

Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter outlining why you are interested in a regulatory role at SSE.

About SSE

SSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.

We do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition. This includes electricity transmission and distribution networks, onshore and offshore wind farms, hydro-electric power and flexible thermal generation. We also provide products and services for businesses and other customers.

Our investment plan will see SSE invest £33bn in critical electricity infrastructure to 2030.

SSEN Transmission own and operate the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland. We transport electricity from where it is generated to where it is needed, ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply for the communities we serve. But that's not all – we're upgrading the grid to deliver cleaner, homegrown power for the future and building the infrastructure needed for a cleaner electricity system to create secure power for generations to come.
