Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

SSEN Distribution is looking for a Project Manager to join our newly formed Connections department. In this role, the Project Manager will oversee larger-scale projects—typically valued at £250k or more—that will be delivered over extended timelines.

This role will involve the development, refinement and execution of new projects across our operational area, predominantly based in the Northeast of Scotland. This role will involve a mixture of working from home and at our offices in Aberdeen, with a requirement to travel to site and other SSE depots.

You will

  • Lead the way in coordinating and prioritising key deliverables across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring everything stays on track.
  • Champion safe and successful delivery, hitting programme, cost, and quality targets through robust project management systems.
  • Be the connector – supporting customers and delivery partners, driving efficiency, and representing the team at site meetings.
  • Boost performance and profitability by delivering exceptional customer service, spotting improvement opportunities, and fostering collaboration across the business.
  • Set the standard for safety and compliance, applying best practices, CDM regulations, and internal governance processes to every project.

You have

  • Proven expertise in developing project programmes, managing costs, and resource schedules to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • A track record of success in meeting project timelines, with accurate and timely reporting on progress and financial performance.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, following governance processes, and applying a solid understanding of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations to ensure technical compliance.
  • An industry insight – experience in a regulated environment is ideal, and knowledge of electricity or utilities is a bonus (but not essential).

This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.

A valid driving licence is essential.
