The role

SSEN Transmission is going through a period of unprecedented growth around the critical infrastructure it builds and operates in the North of Scotland - investing at least £20bn in the period until March 2031. Transmission Digital is a key enabler for this growth through the transformation of the underpinning IT and OT services that keep the lights on and allow SSEN Transmission to deliver an expanded 'Network for Net Zero'.

This role will be responsible for leading the Operational Technology (OT) Networks Services function within SSEN Transmission OT. It will own these capabilities end to end – running the critical 24/7 services that underpin our operational assets to keep the lights on in our network area, as well as managing significant volumes of change across our Networks as we modernise them into the RIIO-T3 pricing period to enable the network to scale to meet this huge demand.

You will

  • Lead the OT Infrastructure and Networks Services functions – collaborating with senior stakeholders across Transmission Digital and our wider business to ensure these continue to meet the requirements of our end users and the Programmes that rely upon them.
  • Drive forward the modernisation of both our Network and the underpinning OT Infrastructure, defining strategic Roadmaps for each, ensuring that the projects delivered in RIIO-T3 give SSEN Transmission a future proofed platform to continue to grow upon as our business scales.
  • Deliver operational services to the highest standards 24/7, 365 days a year to ensure that our critical part of transmitting electricity in Great Britain is maintained.
  • Build strategic relationships with suppliers and internal teams e.g. Group Technology Services to create an operating model that ensure operational services and change are delivered in the most effective manner.
  • Manage the development and performance of staff within the Infrastructure and Networks Services function – ensuring that we build the capabilities required to run and change both disciplines as they evolve.

You have

  • Demonstrable experience of running successful delivery and operational teams within the Infrastructure and Networks domains for critical services within the UK.
  • Developed strategy and long-term Roadmaps enhance services while sustaining performance and supporting change.
  • Ability to provide leadership and focus for the delivery/operational teams, building strong capability within both Infrastructure and Networks Services.
  • Ability to manage complex delivery in regulated environments, with knowledge of NIS Regulations and NCSC Enhanced CAF standards.
  • Understanding of the risks inherent within operating Infrastructure and Networks and the ability to apply sensible mitigations to manage these risks whilst maintaining operational services and throughput of change
