The role

As an OT Infrastructure Engineer, you will help operate, support and improve the infrastructure that underpins Operational Technology across SSEN Transmission.

You will play an important part in keeping our services stable, secure and recoverable. This includes supporting live infrastructure, helping resolve issues, delivering controlled changes and making improvements across environments that support the electricity transmission network.

You do not need to have worked in OT before. We are interested in people who have supported reliable infrastructure in environments where availability, security and good change control matter.

You will

  • Support the OT Infrastructure Manager with the operation, support and continuous improvement of infrastructure services used across Operational Technology.
  • Help maintain the health, performance and resilience of infrastructure platforms, making sure issues are identified, investigated and resolved in a controlled way.
  • Support a range of infrastructure services, from central server environments through to systems deployed at operational substations and third party hosted platforms.
  • Work with operational teams, project teams, suppliers and other stakeholders to deliver infrastructure changes and improvements that are stable, secure and supportable.
  • Help maintain backup, recovery, patching, vulnerability management and operational support processes so that infrastructure services remain secure and fit for purpose.

You have

  • Experience supporting infrastructure in a live environment where reliability, security and service availability are important.
  • Experience monitoring platform health, investigating incidents, supporting capacity management and helping maintain stable services.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure changes, upgrades, deployments or lifecycle activity in a controlled environment.
  • Experience with several of the following areas, or the ability to build knowledge in them quickly: Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, virtualisation, backup and recovery, patching, vulnerability management, Microsoft Server, Linux, SCCM or MECM, WSUS, PKI and anti malware platforms.
  • A collaborative working style, with a practical approach to learning, problem solving and supporting critical services.
