Salary: £50,964 - £68,295 + car /car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As an Operations Engineer (Auxiliary Systems), you’ll help keep SSEN Transmission’s substations safe, reliable and resilient by overseeing work on the critical systems that support our high-voltage network. Working across live operational environments, you’ll coordinate maintenance, manage outages and support the introduction of new auxiliary assets as we continue building a network for net zero.

You will

  • Plan, schedule, resource and oversee safe, efficient maintenance activity across substation auxiliary systems and assets.
  • Manage auxiliary system outages, set internal and contractor teams to work, and coordinate activity in live high-voltage environments.
  • Represent Operations during capital project delivery, supporting the safe and effective introduction of new auxiliary assets and systems.
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with policies, procedures, statutory requirements and manufacturer instructions, while supporting continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example on safety, setting high standards, promoting a positive safety culture and constructively challenging unsafe behaviors.

You have

  • Knowledge of transmission substation auxiliary systems, or from equivalent industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient in work management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation, including a working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • You must be adaptable, self-motivated and flexible enough to work away from base location and a full driver's licence is required.
