Base locations: ROI - Cavan (County Cavan) or Meentycat Hub (County Donegal)
Salary: Circa €20,309 and circa €36,000 at the end of the end of the programme plus a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Kick‑start a meaningful career in renewable energy.

Join SSE Renewables’ Wind Turbine Programme and learn real skills, gain real experience, and play a part in powering Ireland’s future. If you enjoy practical, hands‑on work, being outdoors, and doing something different every day, this could be the perfect path for you.

What the programme offers

• Develop practical maintenance skills and technical know‑how while working alongside experienced colleagues on active wind farm sites.
• Get involved in daily operations, help troubleshoot issues, and contribute ideas that improve how our turbines and sites run.
• Split your learning between on‑the‑job experience at one of our Wind Farms and off‑the‑job training at Kerry College, Tralee — over a comprehensive 3‑year programme.
• Work within a strong safety culture where you’ll learn our wind turbine safety rules, reporting practices and risk‑based decision‑making.
• Achieve an industry‑recognised qualification: the Advanced Certificate in Industrial Wind Turbine Engineering, preparing you for roles such as Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician (with salaries typically starting from around €36,000).

What we’re looking for

• You must be 18 years old by August 2026 when the programme starts, with a QQI Level 4 Major Award (or equivalent) or a minimum of 3 years’ trade‑related experience.
• A pass grade in Maths at Level 3 (or equivalent) and B2 level English language proficiency.
• A valid Irish driving licence and the ability to work at heights of up to 100m.
• Good colour vision and the ability to meet medical fitness requirements for safe site work.
• An interest in practical, technical work — including learning how turbines operate, carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance, and developing skills in fault‑finding on electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
