Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Glasgow or Perth.

Salary: £36,200 - £54,400 performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Transmission owns and operates the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland and plays a vital role in enabling the transition to net zero. NESO has become a key stakeholder in shaping the future of the GB energy system, and our team is central to managing this interface. As NESO Policy Analyst, you will support our engagement with the NESO providing thorough assessment of polices and ensuring SSEN Transmission’s interests are represented and aligned with NESO’s evolving role and frameworks.

You will

  • Deliver Quality Submissions: Prepare and contribute to high-quality regulatory submissions and consultation responses, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Analyse and Advise: Assess policy and regulatory developments, providing insights on their potential impact to support organisational objectives.
  • Support Decision-Making: Assist senior managers and subject matter experts in identifying and managing regulatory risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate Engagement: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with external stakeholders, including regulators, government, and industry partners.
  • Monitor Change: Track ongoing policy and regulatory changes, highlighting potential impacts and opportunities for the organisation.
  • Champion Safety: Promote a strong safety culture by modelling best practices and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.

You have

  • A strong understanding of GB electricity markets and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in policy analysis, regulatory compliance, or energy system operations.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable skills in working collaboratively across teams and influence outcomes.
