What is the role?

At SSE, our Risk & Assurance department plays a critical role in helping the business identify and manage risk, strengthen controls, improve performance and support informed decision-making across the organisation. Through these activities, the team provides insight, challenge and assurance that help SSE achieve its strategic objectives.

Our Enterprise Risk & Assurance Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who want to develop commercial and analytical expertise while making a real impact from day one. Over two years, you'll gain broad exposure across SSE, building a strong understanding of our business, strategy and operations while developing the skills needed for a long-term career in assurance, governance, risk or audit.

You'll gain experience across a range of assurance activities, including:

- Assurance and audit activities that provide insight and improve business performance.

- Risk identification, assessment and management.

- Data analysis and evidence-based decision-making.

- Governance and compliance within a complex and regulated organisation.

- Stakeholder engagement and business improvement.

- Continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen processes and ways of working.

Alongside real business experience, you'll benefit from mentoring, structured development opportunities and support from experienced colleagues across SSE. You'll also have access to a wide network of graduates and business leaders.

Following successful completion of the programme, you'll have the opportunity to progress into a role within Risk & Assurance, helping to strengthen governance, manage risk, improve performance and support informed decision-making across SSE.

What we're looking for 

You'll have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in any discipline. We welcome applications from graduates of all academic backgrounds. Whether you've studied Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, Energy Policy, Risk Management, Governance and Compliance, or another discipline, we're interested in the skills, perspectives and potential you'll bring.
