The role

As SSEN Transmission delivers a multi £bn portfolio of major infrastructure projects to enable low carbon energy, strengthen the UK’s electricity network, and achieve Net Zero, we’ve established a new Project Services function to provide the governance, insight and expertise that underpin successful delivery.

As Head of Resource Management and Project Coordination, you will lead a high performing function that provides forward looking resource intelligence, robust allocation governance, and consistent delivery support across the capital portfolio.  You will ensure visibility of demand, effective utilisation, and seamless mobilisation, enabling the organisation to deploy the right capability at the right time. Working closely with directorate leads and executive stakeholders, you will drive operational efficiency, insight led decision making, and consistent project coordination across major programmes.

You will

  • Lead and embed SHE principles across resource management and project coordination, ensuring safe, compliant, and disciplined mobilisation, onboarding and operational support across the portfolio.
  • Oversee forecasting, demand management, allocation, utilisation and onboarding/offboarding to ensure visibility of future needs, optimal deployment of internal and contingent resources, and timely project mobilisation.
  • Define and maintain scalable, consistent coordination and mobilisation processes that support delivery readiness, governance tracking, stakeholder engagement, and day to day operational support across all directorates.
  • Build a high performing Resource Management and Project Coordination function, providing strategic direction, developing capability in resource planning and analytics, and fostering a collaborative, delivery focused culture.
  • Implement digital tools, automation and best practice resourcing frameworks, integrating data from HR, Finance and Commercial systems to enhance forecasting precision, reduce manual effort, and strengthen functional maturity.

You have

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Business Management, Resource Planning, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in resource management and project coordination, including enterprise level forecasting, utilisation and demand frameworks, contingent workforce governance, and scaling standardised processes across complex programmes.
  • Strong digital and analytical capability, with experience in resource planning platforms, data modelling, portfolio reporting and system integration across workforce, financial and delivery ecosystems.
  • Senior leadership experience in complex, high value, regulated delivery environments, directing multidisciplinary teams to achieve strategic resourcing and mobilisation objectives.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with confidence in engaging Executive Management, Boards and senior stakeholders to drive alignment, decision making and portfolio wide delivery readiness.
