Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Reading, Havant, Dublin, Belfast whilst other SSER locations can be considered.

Salary: £Competitive depending on experience + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As Head of Grid, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, you'll lead a team of engineering specialists responsible for delivering technical excellence across a multi-billion-pound portfolio of renewable energy projects and operational assets. Reporting to the Director of Technical, you'll play a critical role in shaping engineering strategy, managing technical risk, and ensuring the successful delivery and operation of renewable energy infrastructure that supports the transition to a net zero future.

This is a high-profile leadership role with significant influence across project development, construction, asset management and executive decision-making.

You will

  • Lead the development and delivery of grid, electrical and mechanical engineering strategies across a large portfolio of renewable energy projects and operational assets.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance to ensure engineering standards, compliance requirements and best practice are embedded throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring the capability, capacity and succession plans are in place to support future growth.
  • Work closely with senior internal and external stakeholders, including system operators, regulators, joint venture partners, supply chain partners and executive leadership teams, to resolve complex technical and commercial challenges.
  • Drive innovation, value improvement and risk management initiatives that enhance project delivery, operational performance and long-term asset value.

You have

  • Chartered Engineer status and significant experience in grid, power systems, electrical or mechanical engineering within large-scale energy, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex engineering programmes within a project and operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of electricity networks, grid connection requirements and engineering governance across large asset portfolios.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at executive and industry level.
  • Commercial awareness and strategic thinking, with the ability to balance technical, operational and business priorities to support organisational objectives.
