Group Intelligence Manager

Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations : Reading

Salary: £68,100 - £102,100 + car allowance + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

The Group Intelligence Manager is accountable for leading SSE's enterprise intelligence capability, providing fused cyber, physical, geopolitical, insider threat and supply chain intelligence to support strategic decision-making, operational resilience, risk reduction and regulatory compliance. The role serves as the organisation's senior authority on threat intelligence and emerging risks, ensuring the Board and Executive Committee maintain a clear understanding of the evolving threat landscape and its potential impact on SSE, UK energy infrastructure and critical national services.

You will

• Set and deliver SSE’s intelligence strategy, aligning intelligence priorities with corporate objectives, security strategy and enterprise risk management, while demonstrating measurable business value and risk reduction.
• Lead and mature the Intelligence Fusion Cell, integrating cyber, physical, geopolitical, insider and supply-chain intelligence to provide a comprehensive view of current and emerging threats to critical national infrastructure.
• Provide regulatory leadership and assurance, ensuring intelligence capabilities support the NIS Regulations, the Cyber Assessment Framework Enhanced Profile, audits, inspections and wider government engagement.
• Advise the Board and senior leaders, translating complex threats into concise assessments of business risk, operational impact and strategic recommendations that inform investment, resilience and operational decisions.
• Strengthen threat-informed defence and external collaboration, embedding intelligence into security strategy, threat hunting, incident response and resilience planning, while maintaining trusted relationships with government, regulators, law enforcement and CNI partners

You have

• Intelligence and risk expertise: Deep knowledge of cyber and physical security intelligence, geopolitical risk, adversary behaviours, emerging threats and critical infrastructure risk, with experience embedding intelligence into enterprise decision-making.
• Regulatory and governance capability: Practical experience of the NIS Regulations, Cyber Assessment Framework, NCSC guidance, CNI requirements, regulatory assurance, audits and governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
• Senior leadership: Proven success leading intelligence, security, risk or resilience functions in complex, regulated environments, including building high-performing multidisciplinary teams and influencing Boards and Executive Committees.
• Communication and stakeholder influence: Exceptional ability to translate complex threats for executive audiences through clear reports, briefings and presentations, supported by strong relationships across government, regulators and industry.
• Strategic and commercial mindset: Ability to anticipate future threats and opportunities, understand business operations, resilience and risk appetite, and shape long-term strategy and organisational transformation.
