What is the role?

At SSE, we're investing in the people, capabilities and technologies needed to deliver secure, clean and affordable electricity. As the commercial hub of SSE, Energy Markets plays a critical role in trading energy, optimising assets and providing market insight across the business. Through these activities, Energy Markets helps maximise value, manage risk and support informed decision-making across SSE's operations.

Our Energy Markets Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who want to develop commercial expertise while making a real impact from day one. Over two years, you'll build a broad understanding of energy markets, gain hands-on experience across the business and develop the skills needed for a long-term career within Energy Markets.

You'll undertake a series of structured placements with teams across Energy Markets, gaining exposure to a wide range of commercial, analytical and operational activities. Placement opportunities may include:

- Trading & Asset Optimisation

- Market Analysis & Energy Economics

- Advanced Analytics

- Risk Management

- Commercial Operations

- Weather & Forecasting

Alongside real business experience, you'll benefit from mentoring, structured development opportunities and support from experienced colleagues across Energy Markets.

Following successful completion of the programme, you'll have the opportunity to progress into a role within our Front Office or Middle Office teams, helping to optimise assets, manage risk, analyse markets and support commercial decision-making across SSE's energy portfolio.

What we're looking for

You'll have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Meteorology or another relevant analytical discipline.
