We're looking for a Design Engineer to help create safe, efficient substation designs (up to 132kV).
Our projects involve the replacement of existing electrical assets on our electricity distribution network from 11 - 132kV. You'll be involved in project planning, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring CDM compliance.
If you bring relevant experience, a solid understanding of substation systems, and a full driving licence we’d love to hear from you!
You will:
- Develop detailed, buildable project designs that comply with SSEN standards and specifications.
- Produce, verify, and approve design calculations to ensure cost-effective, compliant solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders during design development and specify primary plant items with an understanding of their interaction.
- Provide technical support across the team, including temporary works and site-specific detailed designs.
- Coordinate pre-construction activities, prepare tender documentation, track design progress, and ensure CDM 2015 compliance and financial governance.
You have:
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of power system substation design and operation up to 132kV.
- A qualification (minimum of HNC level) in a relevant discipline or have demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Experience of working under engineering design governance structures and experience of preparing tender documentation.
- You are a Principal Designer and have an excellent understanding of the Principal Designer Role in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
- A full current driving licence.
