Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth, Aberdeen, or Inverness.
Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As an Economic Development Manager, you will have an important influence in shaping and delivering this ambitious programme, ensuring it drives meaningful outcomes and aligns with our strategic goals. Working closely with Directors and senior managers, you’ll play a key role in supporting the development and construction of the electricity network that will help deliver 20% of the UK’s net zero carbon targets. You will
Shape and deliver a structured plan for SSEN Transmission’s Community Benefit Fund, ensuring it follows Government guidance and reflects and responds to stakeholder feedback.
Develop and deliver of a package of collaborative and partnership projects to deliver socio-economic benefits from the £20bn+ investment to be made by SSEN Transmission in the north of Scotland by 2030.
Ensure the correct data is captured for the calculation of socio-economic benefits for all SSEN Transmission capital projects both as forecasts and for assessment at project completion.
Manage relationships with place-based development leads with key stakeholders including local authorities and business organisations in partnership with our Corporate Affairs, Procurement and Project Teams.
Identify, recommend, plan, implement and embed improvements to maximise social-value outputs based on stakeholder feedback.
You have
Experience in leading and delivering multi-million-pound economic development programmes that generate socio-economic and legacy benefits, including community benefit funds aligned to strategic objectives.
Proficient in socio-economic benefit modelling and analytics, applying these to project planning and delivery, with strong IT skills to analyse performance data and present results effectively.
Proven ability to build, maintain and leverage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
Expertise in developing and managing plans, projects and budgets, while effectively overseeing third-party supplier and partner performance.
An established network of economic development contacts in Scotland to support the implementation of ambitious programmes.
