About the Department

SSE IT underpins the technology needs of all the different businesses that make up the SSE group. From emerging technologies to data and analytics to cyber security – we power SSE's growth and enable it to generate value, while keeping it secure. As a trusted business partner that helps SSE lead in a low carbon world, we are proud of our service. Working for SSE IT is all about equipping SSE for now and the future.

About the role

This role is accountable for ensuring the Industry and Regulation Platform Team operate effectively using Scrum/Agile practices, while also managing delivery governance, dependencies and stakeholder expectations to achieve outcomes safely and on time.

In the Industry & Regulation context, delivery must support systems and processes that underpin market messaging, SMART and regulatory obligations, requiring strong focus on auditability, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance alongside agile execution.

This position requires an individual with a robust combination of strong end to end delivery skills, the ability to lead cross-functional teams as well as good Agile methodology understanding.

You Will

  • Act as an effective Scrum Master and Agile delivery manager, facilitating core Scrum ceremonies (stand ups, planning, reviews, retrospectives) while adapting ways of working to suit team maturity, scale and context.
  • Own delivery outcomes end to end, working independently and confidently through ambiguity, from backlog refinement and sprint delivery through to release and go live.
  • Run delivery forums and ceremonies solo and with purpose, ensuring meetings are well structured, inclusive, outcome focused and supported by clear written follow ups.
  • Manage delivery at scale across multiple teams, vendors and partners, coordinating dependencies, removing impediments and maintaining flow across complex delivery landscapes.
  • Build stakeholder confidence through clear, concise written and verbal communication, proactive engagement, transparent reporting and timely escalation.

You Have

  • Proven experience operating as a Delivery Manager/Scrum Master, facilitating Agile ceremonies, coaching teams and embedding continuous improvement, while applying Agile pragmatically rather than dogmatically.
  • Experience leading end to end delivery at scale, demonstrating adaptability and control in complex, fast‑moving and ambiguous environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a track record of running meetings independently and communicating clearly with delivery teams, vendors and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑vendor delivery models, balancing servant leadership with firm delivery ownership and accountability.
  • A hands‑on delivery mindset, maintaining accurate backlogs, plans, RAID, tooling and reporting, using them as active management tools rather than passive artefacts.
