Base Location: Loch Carnan, South Uist

Salary: £36,139- £43,188 depending on experience + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role

A Craftsperson is at the heart of our network, helping us to power change. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to develop an exciting career and further authorisation within SSE.

You will

  • Carry out construction, new connection and repair work across overhead and underground networks from LV up to and including 11/33kV.
  • Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues, promoting a strong safety culture in all activities.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including participation in out-of-hours standby duties and short-notice attendance during storm situations, with occasional overnight stays required.
  • Travel to our Training Facility in Perth to attend training courses.
  • Develop skills and experience to gain LV and HV switching authorisations, with opportunities to progress towards SAP authorisation.

You have

  • Experience working within the UK electricity industry on or around overhead lines or underground cables; electrical experience would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
  • Ability to work at heights, with previous experience desirable.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with a proactive approach to embedding and promoting a positive safety culture and always adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and effectively to different audiences.
  • Enthusiasm, drive and a flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing business and project priorities.
  • Ability to undertake a physically demanding role, supported by an active and flexible lifestyle and a willingness to participate in a standby rota.

It is an essential requirement that you hold a Full UK Driving License for this role.
