Our community offers the space and thinking for all things gender and equality – to share experiences, learn and create valuable change to achieve gender equality in the energy industry and at SSE. Our four action-pillars are based on data and employee voice: Gender Safety, Allyship, Inclusive Development, and Community.
In person events with leaders from the business on their journeys and opportunities to share insight into the lived experiences of women in SSE, whether it be in Operations, to Contact Centres, to offices. Alongside this, the modern male experience is discussed with initiatives on breaking the stigma and expectations placed on men.
We launched the “Break the Silence” campaign to raise awareness on the importance of calling out non-inclusive behaviour and offering people the confidence to speak up. We provided sessions on gravitas and resources on practical tools you can use to help challenge constructively.
Right now, there’s a gap in female talent in business leadership. Women are underrepresented in senior roles in just about every industry, particularly in the energy sector.
That’s why we’re working to create a culture where equality, fairness and diversity are not just intentions but actions. Because we know that brilliant leadership requires diverse perspectives, experiences and skills. That means recognising that everyone has different needs and aspirations, and that there can be many changes in the course of a career.
