"I have worked for SSE for 24 years and am currently employed as an Energy Contracts Manager. It is my job to manage and coach the team in the negotiation, delivery and ongoing management of up to 600 agreements with a value in excess of £1bn. We play a critical role in ensuring that EPM can deliver the route to market services for each of the SSE business units.
I joined SSE straight from University, having completed a Business Studies degree. SSE has provided me with the opportunity to develop project management skills based on my time spent delivering a large-scale IT project. No 2 days in EPM are ever the same so I enjoy the pace and excitement that my role brings. The people are what make EPM for me, I am lucky to have made fantastic friends along the way."
"I have worked with SSE since 2015 and in EPM since 2017. I control the EPM document library and review program, assist with KYC, on-board new starts and assign all eLearning’s and also control the hospitality register to name a few of my responsibilities. After having my son I decided to enrol on a degree with the University of the West of Scotland and I graduated with a BA in Business and Management in 2015. I joined SSE in the retail business, first in the sales team selling gas/electricity tariffs to customers over the phone. I then moved onto Partnership Services for six months, it was during that time I applied for a position as an EPM Assurance Support Officer and got the job. Some of the benefits of working for SSE include agile working which is great with a family and the flexibility that it brings. Holiday plus is also a great benefit as it allows me to get through the school holidays! The company is very teamwork focussed and I love being part of a great company that is constantly changing and innovating."
"I joined SSE as a temporary member of staff following graduating from University with a degree in Environmental Science. I initially joined thinking the job would be a stepping-stone but soon discovered many exciting opportunities. The most striking thing that I noticed when I joined Settlements was how close the team was and I soon felt part of the EPM family. I have always enjoyed analytical work and there is no shortage of that in EPM. Things are always changing and if you are willing to get stuck in, there is always something interesting to get involved in. I currently do a condensed 37 hour week over 4 days, which allows me to have a ‘daddy day’ every Thursday. This flexibility has been priceless to my family and given me so many happy days with my children. I have always been passionate about the environment and seeing SSE's Net zero targets and involvement in COP 26 made me proud. I work for a company with the same ambitions as me and that makes it easy for me to have faith in our strategy."
