Gayle Lee (Risk, Planning & Assurance)

My name is Gayle Lee – I am an Assurance Analyst in EPM working within the Assurance team. I have worked with SSE since 2015 and in EPM since 2017. I control the EPM document library and review program, assist with KYC, on-board new starts and assign all eLearning’s and also control the hospitality register to name a few of my responsibilities. I thought I would include a good all-round description of what the EPM Assurance team does taken directly from our controls document – ‘EPM Assurance work with the business to identify new risks as they arise and ensure that robust and effective controls are implemented where applicable. These controls are reviewed and monitored regularly to ensure they remain both effective and appropriate. These controls support our system of internal control and provide a framework for effective enterprise risk management for EPM. The assurance model within EPM is well established and aligned to the principal risks and regulatory obligations of the business. These have evolved over time as the business and regulatory environment have developed.’

After having my son I decided to start Uni. I attended the University of the West of Scotland to do my degree and during my last year I moved to Perth and whilst having my other son, I was able to complete the last year at UHI back in Perth and I graduated with a BA in Business and Management in 2015. I joined SSE in the retail business, first in the sales team selling gas/electricity tariffs to customers over the phone. I then moved onto Partnership Services for six months, it was during that time I applied for a position as an EPM Assurance Support Officer and got the job. I worked in that team for a couple of years then moved into Credit Risk to assist with KYC before the function was then moved back into Assurance where I have been for the past few years.

Some of the benefits of working for SSE include agile working which is great with a family and the flexibility that it brings, holiday plus is also a great benefit as it allows me to get through the school holidays! The company is very teamwork focussed and I love being part of a great company that is constantly changing and innovating.
