You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a project management qualification and progress your learning in areas of interest.

In your second year, you’ll visit sites across Scotland to experience wider SSEN Transmission projects and activities. You will have the opportunity to complete stakeholder engagement training and engage with external stakeholders such as Ofgem.

During your three month placements, you’ll work in areas such as corporate affairs, system planning and our commercial team to develop your technical knowledge.

Building on your work in year one, you’ll play an important part in the creation and delivery of engagement activities from primary schools to universities. There will be activity away days with your fellow graduates and you’ll celebrate the end of the programme with a two-day conference and a networking dinner.

When you complete the commercial graduate programme, you’ll become a valued part of the business planning and commercial team. Our previous graduates have secured roles as Economic Analysts, Business Performance Analysts and Commercial Business Analysts, leading on key projects and impacting strategic decision making within SSEN Transmission.

SSEN Transmission has published ambitious plans for the future of the north of Scotland electricity transmission system. With the region home to some of the UK's greatest resources of renewable energy, SSEN Transmission will be at the forefront of the country's fight to tackle climate change, connecting up more renewable energy and transporting it across the country. SSEN Transmission plays a critical role in the transition to a low carbon future, developing, building, maintaining and operating a network for net zero. Vital to net zero ambitions, the network transports huge quantities of clean, green renewable power over a quarter of the UK land mass, across some of its most challenging terrain. As the way we live our lives changes, billions of pounds of investment will be required to meet energy demands now and in the future. Through a fair, balanced and considered investment programme, SSEN Transmission is committed to improving network reliability and enabling the transition to net zero.
