Base Location: This is a site-based role and you will be required on site 5 days in Argyll.

Salary: £43,704 - £51,484 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Site Based at Crossaig, Argyll.

The role

SSEN Transmission’s Argyll Team is looking for a motivated and proactive Site Supervisor to support the delivery of complex new substation projects as part of the Argyll and Kintyre 275kV Strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Site Supervisor experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission overhead line works, substations, and/or underground cables, ensuring strict adherence to the highest health, safety, environmental and quality standards, to the join the Delivery team in Argyll.

You will

  • Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site as a key site-based point of contact, ensuring the suppliers carry out works in accordance with contractual requirements and SSEN policies and procedures. A key element of this will be measuring completed works against the works information for payment purposes and management of compensation events.
  • Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.
  • Work closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the Operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Act as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture. Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, and routine reports and KPIs are submitted to the Project Manager.

The Site Supervisor will be required to be onsite 5 days a week. Accommodation and subsistence costs provided.

You have

  • A solid understanding of engineering and construction practices, including site safety and compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Proven experience in site supervision or construction on complex infrastructure or utilities projects; experience in access works is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of project planning, with experience in monitoring progress against plans and implementing inspection and test plans to ensure quality.
  • Confidence using computer systems, particularly common software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to track site progress and issues, and effectively represent the project team internally and externally.

Please note, a full current driving licence is essential due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
