The role

The Service Design and Transition Lead is a critical role within the Transmission Digital team. We are looking for someone that is passionate about seamless service experiences and that can ensure continuity between service design and transition. The position will ensure that new and enhanced Digital services are effectively planned, implemented, and managed to support the company's operational goals and strategic initiatives. It will play a key role in driving service design excellence and improving the quality-of-service transition, while actively identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency. This role is accountable for all aspects of the Service Design and Transition process, including development, governance, compliance, reporting and continual improvement.

The service design and transition manager will be critical to driving the reliability, efficiency, and performance of SSENT's IT and OT services, as we rapidly build the scale of the technology estate to support a growing customer base.

You will

- Collaborate with key stakeholders across SSE Transmission to define service support models, operational processes, and drive quality to ensure high standards of reliability, security and performance.

- Develop and manage transition plans for new or enhanced services, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services. Ensuring all service designs and transitions comply with internal policy to support compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

- Identify and mitigate risks associated with service introduction, ensuring service stability and performance.

- Help identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to aid effectiveness of service delivery.

You have

- A strong understanding of service management best practices with a recognised service management accreditation. e.g. ITIL v4, especially service design, transition, and operational lifecycle stages.

- Extensive experience of working within a service design/transition role in a large, complex organisation, where you have developed, implemented, and matured business processes to support scaling and growth.

- A strategic and proactive approach to problem solving, looking at the big picture and how decisions and actions impact across the business.

- A user focussed mindset with the ability to balance innovation with operational requirements.

- An ability to work in a cross functional environment and adapt to change quickly.

- Experience with Operational Technology and the Utilities industry is preferred but not essential. Experience in a regulated environment is beneficial.
