About the Department

We are embedding agility in our ways of working, building capability for a digital SSE of the future, meeting the needs of our customers in a different way. SSE IT is building its Agile capability and continues to increase the proportion of its delivery which utilises Agile methodology and tools. As a result, those in Delivery and Portfolio Management roles need to have Agile experience and demonstrate an interest in championing it across the business.

The role

The main purpose of the Senior Portfolio Analyst role is to work with IT Platform teams, providing support across areas such as contribution to backlog management in collaboration with platform product owners, support of risk identification and mitigation planning, ensuring alignment with central portfolio governance through regular reporting and updates, and facilitation of cross-team dependencies and delivery assurance across the platform landscape.

In addition, the role will provide support to core Portfolio Office delivery functions such as reporting on financial performance, portfolio metrics and analysis, resource and demand planning, and benefits/value tracking.

This role will also play a key part in supporting and coordinating delivery across all Airtricity IT Platform Teams, including the large billing system enhancements programme, Keystone.

You will

- Deliver Core Support Functions: Ensure timely execution of delivery-level and programme-level support activities across Airtricity IT Platform teams, including RAID logs, resource planning, MI, progress and support of financial reporting. Working closely with and building effective relationships with key IT team members, such as Delivery Leads and Technical Product Owners, to understand delivery and support as required.

- Drive Reporting Standards: Set and enforce high reporting standards across the portfolio, monitor compliance, and address deviations proactively. Utilize Azure DevOps for project tracking, documentation, and collaboration, providing training and support to team members. Understand Airtricity ADO set up and ways of working, to be able to suggest improvements across reporting and ways of working.

- Maintain Financial Controls: Support the finance teams with project cost accounting with controls for budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.

- Enhance Delivery Frameworks: Continuously update methodologies, policies, and procedures to improve delivery practices and align with portfolio controls. Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards for project insights both at Airtricity Platform Team level, and overall Airtricity Portfolio level, ensuring data accuracy.

- Support and Governance: Assist Delivery Managers and Leads with project admin, maintain documentation records, escalate issues, and uphold cyber security standards.

You have

- Portfolio & Supplier Engagement: Experienced in working with the third-party suppliers that the Airtricity Platform Teams use, and managing reporting cycles within large Agile projects, especially in Portfolio Office functions.

- Delivery & Governance Expertise: Strong understanding of Airtricity delivery governance, ADO, end-to-end lifecycle management, benefits tracking, and project cost accounting fundamentals.

- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in IT systems and tools including Azure DevOps (ADO), Microsoft Office Suite, Project, and Visio, with knowledge of methodologies like Agile, Prince2, PMP, and development practices such as DevOps, Scrum, and Kanban.

- Security & Compliance Awareness: Familiar with information security practices in commercially sensitive environments and capable of applying governance and process standards across portfolios.

- Personal Effectiveness: Demonstrates resilience, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with a customer-focused and collaborative approach.
