Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 per annum + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role
We have an exciting opportunity for three lead project manager positions within the Eastern Green Link 5 (EGL5) delivery team, leading on Cable, Converter and Civils packages. EGL5 is a new transmission project, connecting Scotland and England, and supporting the transfer of renewable electricity to key UK centres of demand. It is one of the largest projects SSEN Transmission will be involved in over the next decade and comprises new High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Convertor Stations, subsea cable installation and AC connections at either end of the system.
You will
- Support the Deputy Project Director in the delivery of the HVDC infrastructure work package through to commissioning and completion.
- Provide leadership working within a multidisciplinary team. Lead teams, ensuring competence, motivation, and organisation to deliver consistent excellence. Take line management and mentoring responsibility for your direct reports to ensure they perform to their required duties and are given all available opportunity to develop.
- Have accountability for commercial aspects of delivery including contract management, ensuring that any disputes are escalated as appropriate for resolution. Accountable to the business for the budget and delivery of the project / package within this. Packages will be more than £100m in value.
- Build and maintain productive and enduring relationships with contractors, stakeholders, and communities to support the sustainable delivery of the projects that you are responsible for.
- Provide regular site-based leadership throughout the delivery phase to drive progress and achieve SHEQ outcomes.
You have
- A proven track record of leading and safely delivering projects or programmes of work through the whole lifecycle to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry / the wider utilities sector – HVDC experience is beneficial.
- An engineering, construction, or project management qualification/degree or equivalent experience.
- Thorough engineering or construction knowledge and understanding, including the associated environmental and safety legislation e.g. the CDM 2015 regulations.
- Commercial astuteness, with sound knowledge and experience of negotiating, administering, and managing Contracts.
- Experience of the governance, reporting, and management requirements for project and/or programmes of work in a regulated environment, with prior delivery budget responsibilities of over £50m.
