Our vision is to become the business-led hub for all Information Management needs across SSE Renewables, delivering high-value outcomes while modernising technologies, workflows, and best practices to create a seamless user experience. By building strong relationships and understanding business requirements and priorities, we aim to transform operations, accelerate growth, and maximise the value of data through an innovative, integrated approach.

As Data Management Lead, you’ll drive the implementation of robust data practices across SSE Renewables, ensuring data is accessible, trusted, and aligned with business needs. Reporting to the Data and Application Support Manager, you’ll provide technical leadership across the data lifecycle—from source systems to end-user applications—and collaborate with the Data Delivery Lead and Application Support Delivery Lead to ensure seamless data flow. You’ll also work closely with the Information Management Centre of Excellence to embed governance and align with organisational standards.

Your expertise in SCADA, geospatial data, and enterprise platforms like FME, AGOL, Microsoft Purview, Azure, and Power Platform will support initiatives in data modelling, metadata, quality, and master data management. As the technical lead for SSER’s digital data platform, you’ll identify opportunities to optimise data assets and co-develop a modern data strategy that empowers teams with timely, actionable insights. This strategic, hands-on role suits someone passionate about data, able to translate complex requirements into business value, and committed to supporting SSE Renewables’ growth and sustainability.

You Will -

  • Provide technical leadership across the full data lifecycle, covering data quality, metadata, modelling, and master data to ensure data is accessible, structured, and business-ready.
  • Integrate structured, unstructured, and spatial data from both legacy and modern systems, supporting scalable architectures that are efficient, cohesive, and aligned with SSER’s digital strategy.
  • Partner with the Data Delivery Lead and Information Management CoE to shape and implement a forward-looking data strategy that supports insight-driven decisions and governance excellence.
  • Lead efforts to improve the accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness of critical datasets, with a particular focus on spatial data and real-time sources. Support initiatives that strengthen the quality, monitoring, and validation of live data streams, ensuring they are fit for operational use and decision-making. Apply a strong understanding of end-to-end data management, from data acquisition and processing through to storage, governance, and end-user access. Drive coherent and high-quality data practices across the estate.
  • Advise on and optimise the use of platforms like FME, Power Platform, Microsoft Purview, ArcGIS, and Dataverse, while identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve data maturity.

You have -

  • Proven ability to lead and deliver data management strategies that align technical solutions with business goals and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in data management, governance, or related roles such as data analyst, architect, or engineer, with strong understanding of structured and unstructured data.
  • Skilled in using data cataloguing tools like Microsoft Purview and ETL and automation platforms such as FME or PowerApps to enhance data workflows.
  • Strong grasp of data governance frameworks, including data quality, lineage, and compliance practices. Familiarity with cloud technologies and a variety of data systems, ideally within asset-focused commercial environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data concepts for diverse audiences and drive shared understanding across teams.

Desirables

  • ETL tools (e.g. FME, Logic apps etc)
  • Experience with Azure, and the Power Platform
  • ESRI products (e.g. AGOL, ArcPRO etc)
  • Experience with Data Bricks/ Synaps
