The role is responsible for managing project engineering from initial development and design, through to delivery, commissioning and hand over to operations.

You will:

  • Manage engineering risks as a core part of project decision-making, ensuring built assets meet the needs of Operational users and align with the overall Network strategy.

  • Lead the development and performance of a talented engineering team, supporting individual growth and expanding the team through strategic recruitment.
  • Champion sound engineering practices and drive innovation in design to meet technical requirements, deliver high-quality outcomes, and ensure value for money.
  • Promote and oversee safety in design across the project portfolio, ensuring compliance with legislation and effective execution of CDM Principal Designer and Designer responsibilities.

You have:

  • A qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally Chartered Engineer status, with extensive experience in similar environments.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of the Electrical Transmission sector or comparable industries.
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing engineering teams and delivering complex projects successfully.

  • A diligent and analytical approach, with strengths in prioritisation, technical problem-solving, solution assessment, and risk mitigation.
