The role

If you've built your early career developing renewable energy projects in Spain and are interested in moving into the commercial and investment side of the industry, this could be a great next step.

Joining our Spanish Business Development team in Madrid, you'll use your knowledge of renewable project development and permitting to help us assess and acquire onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage projects across Spain. You don't need to already be an experienced dealmaker or financial modelling expert. We're looking for someone who understands how renewable projects are developed and wants to build their skills across investment, valuation and negotiation throughout all Due Diligence processes.

You will

  • Review the development and permitting status of potential acquisitions, including land rights, grid access, environmental approvals and authorisations, identifying the risks and milestones that could affect project value or delivery.
  • Assess new onshore wind, solar and battery storage opportunities, looking at project maturity, deliverability and realistic routes to ready-to-build status.
  • Work alongside experienced M&A colleagues on financial modelling and valuation, helping translate development risks, market assumptions and due diligence findings into investment decisions.
  • Support live transactions from initial assessment through to signing and closing, including due diligence, advisor coordination, information requests and the negotiation of transaction and development agreements.
  • Prepare clear recommendations and investment materials for senior stakeholders while building your understanding of the Spanish renewables market, regulation, grid environment and wider commercial landscape.

You have

  • Experience in renewable energy project development or technical advisory in Spain, ideally within onshore wind, solar PV and/or battery storage.
  • A practical understanding of the Spanish renewable project development and permitting lifecycle, including areas such as land, grid access and connection, environmental approvals and progression towards ready-to-build status.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review technical and permitting information, identify material risks and explain their potential commercial impact clearly.
  • Some knowledge of project economics, financial modelling, valuation or transaction agreements would be useful, but importantly you'll have the aptitude and motivation to develop these skills with support from the team.
  • Fluent Spanish and professional working English, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across development, engineering, finance, legal and external advisory teams.
