Our fast-growing community promotes and develop a diverse and inclusive culture for all minority ethnic colleagues and those of faith, so that they can feel confident to bring their whole self to work and be the best they can be, in support with allies across our business.
Our accessible internal podcast on race, faith, and ethnicity alongside intersectional experiences.
Creating intersectional and accessible spaces to aid prayers, meditation, breast pumping and to act as quiet spaces.
Since launch our community held several events to encourage cultural exchange. During Black History Month colleagues celebrated African cultures by enjoying food from a different country each week, and the ‘#MyNameIsCampaign’ during Race and Equality week highlighted the diversity of names across the business and the cultural importance of pronunciation. For South Asian Heritage Month, we volunteered in the communities.
As our business grows, so does the need to communicate with others, globally. For some of us, this could include visits to other countries or collaborations with new teams. How we communicate and understand others is essential to our success and this space has been created to foster inclusion, supporting colleagues to share knowledge and learn about each other. Dedicated space designed to help with global inclusion was created and a broader community network on learning various languages which is promoted during cultural exchange opportunities.
We kicked off a project which we felt would bring all of us together and what better way than through food! Every culture, every family, every individual would describe their relationship with food uniquely. There are many dishes that we would refer to as our comfort food or food we only eat on special occasions. These dishes are often passed through generations and may also have links to our cultures. The SSE Family Cooks have recipes spanning several countries and continents.
