STEM and sustainability are at the heart of our business and we have developed a STEM strategy based around Tomorrow’s Engineers STEM Code to ensure our future workforce, supply chain and communities are inspired to take up the opportunities in the energy sector and help us to achieve Net Zero.
Our subject matter experts (SME) and education partners have built these curriculum aligned STEM sessions to provide young people with an inspiring insight into the energy sector, the variety of roles and real life work tasks. Watch our pre-recorded sessions which have accompanying lesson plans and activity sheets to provide an interactive, engaging and
informative STEM session. To access the accompanying documents please email STEM@sse.com.
Whilst we are fundamentally an engineering business, the energy sector requires a wide variety of people to fulfill roles within our business functions, our operational activities and our innovation teams. Not all of these roles are considered STEM, but all require employability skills. Our School outreach programme and content creation includes employability skills and the opportunity to complete realistic work tasks covering a wide range of disciplines and roles.
SSE Group has several business units from Generation to Distribution and Customer Solutions. We have a common goal to achieve Net Zero and a solid plan in Just Transition. Our strategy for growth is based around sustainability goals and includes our ‘IN, ON & UP’ Inclusion and Diversity strategy. We regularly release engaging video content, investor relations news and operational milestones. These are useful sources of information to align industrial applications to curriculum content.
