Do you want to be at the forefront of the UK’s fight to tackle climate change?

SSE Distributed Energy and Solar & Battery Divisions have ambitious plans for the future of renewable energy infrastructure across the UK and Ireland and we would love you to join us to make a difference. On our engineering graduate programme you will play a critical role in the transition to a low carbon future, developing, building, maintaining and operating assets for net zero.

Thinking about applying? Here's what you need to know.

Join our engineering teams to make an impact across all phases of project acquisitions, development, delivery and operations, adding value to our diverse engineering teams, whilst being a part of a wider graduate cohort and working on exciting projects with our key business leaders.

Week one will involve meeting the other SSE Distributed Energy and Solar & Battery graduates and network with our Directors and Managing Director. You’ll undertake business placements including project engineering, project delivery, operational control, and Maintenance teams. You’ll also travel to key development sites across UK & Ireland to gain better understanding of the diverse network of projects, adding value to active projects by creating key reports and implementing changes. Take a lead role in organising and attending SSE graduate conferences.

In second year, you will undertake a variety of placements in areas such as commercial, planning, project development and technical support to develop your technical knowledge. There will be more site visits to give you a deeper understanding of the business and the ongoing projects. You will deliver an innovative project that makes a real-life difference to the business along with your cohort.

As well as contributing to the creation and delivery of engagement activities from primary schools to universities and to celebrate the end of your programme, there will be a two-day conference and networking dinner.

Upon completing your engineering graduate programme, you will become a valued part of one of our specialised teams. Our graduates can expect to secure roles such as Design Engineers specialising in BESS, Solar, EV, Delivery Project Engineer, Operations and Maintenance Engineer.

Distributed Energy and Solar & Battery play a growing and expected critical role in the transition to a low carbon future, developing, building, maintaining, and operating over 3 GW of assets delivering real life benefits for net zero. As the way we live our lives changes billions of pounds in investment will be required to meet energy demands now and in the future. Through a fair, balanced and considered investment programme SSE Distributed Energy and Solar & Battery are committed to enabling the transition to net zero and we want you to be part of our journey.
