If you’d like to play your part in helping the country get to net zero, then why not join our dynamic solar and battery business? SSE is investing £7m a day in the low carbon infrastructure we need to decarbonise the planet. We develop utility scale solar and battery storage facilities which are key to unlocking the net zero jigsaw.
We currently have a secured 700MW solar and battery pipeline; with a further 1GW+ of sites under assessment. Our first 50MW battery storage facility at Salisbury opens this year in 2023, with our first 30MW solar site at Littleton set to become operational in 2024. We also have three individual 150MW [or bigger] battery storage projects, where construction will begin in early 2024.
So, if you want to join the team that is making net zero a reality, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a rapidly expanding portfolio of construction opportunities across the UK and Ireland, as we implement large scale build on our Solar and Battery installations. At SSE, we are passionate about doing it safely, acting responsibly in the communities in which we work and delivering a high-quality installation on time ensuring it will be reliable during many years of expected operation. We are a strong team with extensive delivery experience, but we work together and support those challenges which arise from time to time for successful delivery.
Acquiring quality solar and battery projects from developers is core to our strategy, and SSE has already executed several transactions in the last year or so to gain a strong position in the UK market. Furthermore, we are actively seeking opportunities to partner with complementary organisations that can fast-track our growth or create synergistic opportunities.
Our acquisitions team focuses on growing our solar and battery pipeline through project acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
Developing the right solar and battery projects in the right places will be mission critical to unlocking the pathway to net zero and we see it as a key part of SSE’s diverse energy mix.
At SSE we pride ourselves on being a responsible developer keen to maintain our strong track record of managing projects through procurement and construction. We’re looking at a range of greenfield and brownfield sites, many with secured grid connection prospects to further develop our solar and battery pipeline and build on our shared journey to net zero.
We are growing across all areas of the business so take a look at the opportunities available and see what is the right fit for you.
