Telecoms & Senior Telecoms Engineer Opportunities - Offshore Wind

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around UK & Ireland.

Salary: Up to £69,000/€97,000  depending on experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role? 

Our Offshore Engineering Team are playing a key role in the construction of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, situated off the East coast of England, as well as construction of Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm. We are also supporting development of several major offshore wind farm projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe as well as opportunities in Asia Pacific and USA.

SSE Renewables Offshore Engineering have opportunities within our Telecoms Engineering Team. We are looking for Telecoms Engineers at Engineer and Senior Engineer levels to coordinate and lead all telecom engineering deliverables across development and construction projects within the Offshore Renewables business.  

The scope of work covers the specifying and managing installation of Telecoms systems on Offshore Wind construction projects, including fixed line fibre solutions, digital mobile radio solutions, LTE Mobile solutions, microwave radio installations, OT Cyber Security industry standards and current best practices.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

• Specification and design of telecoms infrastructure for offshore wind projects
• Reviewing and approval of contractor proposals and detailed designs for telecoms
• Ensuring compliance with cyber security standards and legislation
• Managing contractor delivery to ensure adherence to required quality and timelines
• As Senior Engineer you will primarily be acting as discipline Technical Authority on our portfolio of Offshore Wind projects.

What do I need? 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

• Excellent knowledge of the Telecoms industry standards and commonly used communication protocols
• Experience of producing high quality specifications and negotiating contracts on large-scale construction projects
• Knowledge of SCADA and Control systems
• An innovative mind-set with a flexible approach, and the ability to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to engage effectively with varying levels of stakeholders across the business and beyond. 

Having a background in Renewables isn’t necessary, as we welcome applications from those with transferable experience. It’s more important to us that you share our values, bring unique experience and are eager to learn.
