Salary: £46,319 - £61,175 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing

What is the Role? 

As part of the network team, you’ll actively support our system planning and design functions for the existing network and its development plans, and provide same services for new networks and assets as required.

Within this role, you’ll also contribute to the asset management and investment program to improve the heath index and network safety and deliver the growth strategy for the network.

You’ll ensure that electrical power distribution standards and specifications for EHV, HV and LV networks are adhered to, maintained and developed accordingly to ensure that the network remains fully complaint with the technical and regulatory requirements.

You’ll be responsible for the design and specification of new connection projects, diversions and network alternations, while you will engage actively with the project teams throughout the construction work and project delivery.

Within this role, you’ll also communicate with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to customers, Distribution Network Operators, Generators, project teams, and support the corporate governance process.

What do I need? 

You’ll have proven thorough knowledge and understanding of electrical power industry regulatory standards for Distribution Network Operators (DNO) and the Distribution Code. A strong understanding of network and engineering policy documents, practice and standards and of other DNOs policy documents is required.

You’ll currently have experience of National and Company safety legislation and rules as well as a clear understanding of large connection projects life cycle and stakeholder management.

You’ll also have demonstrable knowledge of electrical power systems in planning, design, operation and development of the distribution system that includes the design of EHV, HV and LV networks and associated assets. You will have a solid background in assessing network performance and capabilities of 33kV and 11kV networks with a good understanding of LV networks; combined with design experience of 33/11 kV power systems in development, refurbishment and/or asset replacement projects.

You’ll have excellent skills in working with design specifications for electrical switchgear, transformers and substation drawings required for tendering purposes.

You’ll also have computer skills; modelling electrical networks using power systems analysis software, analysis and clear presentation of results, use of spreadsheets.

A qualification in Electrical engineering (Degree, HNC) or equivalent solid industry experience is required.

In addition, you’ll be a strong communicator, both verbally and written and be a skilled multi-tasker. With this, you will also bring excellent organisational and analytical skills with attention to detail and be able to assess diverse needs and prioritise proposals to achieve optimum investment in terms of overall business benefit.
