About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key Scotland sites such as Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness. Travel to the site at Kintore will be required 5 days a week. 

Salary: £37,600 - £56,400 + car/cash allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | On Site

The Site Construction Manager will play a vital role in the project team delivering the innovative world-first "SF6 free” 400kV GIS substation at Kintore and other associated projects. The construction works at Kintore are planned through to 2026 and include a new build 400kV substation on a 17-acre site and replacement of the current 132kV asset with a new GIS substation including demolition and cabling works. These projects are a key part of SSEN Transmission's plans to deliver a Network for Net Zero.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

- Ensure the project is executed following relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, Health and Safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, Quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.

- Work closely with the appointed contractor and the operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, including; earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, gas-insulated switchgear and busbar installation and commissioning activities.

- Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation.

- Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community.

- Ensure routine reports and KPI's are submitted as directed by the Project Manager. 

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Previous demonstrable experience working on-site on the construction and commissioning of High Voltage Substations or other similar large construction projects.

- Working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and CDM 2015 Regulations - ideally within a substation construction environment.

- Experience working with multiple Contractors/Sub Contractors to drive construction activities to time and budget.

- Previous supervisory or on-site management experience and an understanding of quality requirements and experience in monitoring inspection and test plans. You will be capable of challenging others, resolving conflicts and planning site activities.

- Strong IT (Word, Excel etc) and communication skills are required. A full, current, driving licence as there will be travel involved.
