Salary: £32,000 - £49,000 + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

What is the Role?

SSEN Transmission is currently recruiting for an experienced Site Construction Manager to oversee a new build substation project in Aberdeenshire.

This role is responsible for managing the Principal Contractor as they undertake civil works initially, with mechanical/electrical installation and commissioning to follow.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, Health and Safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, Quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.
  • Work closely with the appointed contractor and the operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, including; bulk earthworks (including material processing), establishing drainage systems, casting of building and switchgear foundations, erection and cladding of a steel frame building, casting of oil containment bunds, and establishing substation (bound) roads.
  • Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation.
  • Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community.
  • Ensure routine reports and KPI's are submitted as directed by the Project Manager.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and CDM 2015 Regulations - ideally within a substation construction environment.
  • Experience working with multiple Contractors/Sub Contractors to drive construction activities to time and budget.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience and an understanding of quality requirements and experience in monitoring inspection and test plans.
  • Strong communication skills and be confident in challenging others, as such experience of resolving conflicts and planning site activities is essential.
  • A full, current, driving licence as there will be travel involved.
