Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

At SSE Energy Solutions we are working with clients across the public and private sectors through the deployment of a range of technologies and solutions. We do this through designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining and optimising the most appropriate solutions for smart places – cities, industrial parks, campuses, buildings and organisations.

All these solutions are supported by having a resilient electrical network and one which can support this decarbonisation journey. The role of the Networks Sector Director combines business development, commercial, engineering and project development.  It will suit an individual with experience in the development and delivery of large energy system projects that span different technologies and customer segments and is used to delivering investment led projects.

As the Networks Sector Director, you will have the P&L responsibility for a number of existing areas, as well as the responsibility to develop a range of new propositions to support the development of the sector. Having the entrepreneurial flair to develop new propositions and seize opportunities with prospective clients across the public and private sectors is a key attribute in this role.  The role includes responsibility for the following areas;

• Private Networks - which covers the acquisition of existing electrical private networks.
• Responsibility for our Independent Electrical connections business stream
• New build developments of electrical networks for clients which support low carbon technologies.
• Development of smart energy systems that enable multi-vector asset deployment in large energy accounts (e.g. Local authorities, private developers, I&C).

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

• Experience of developing/leading large solutions led sales initiatives with clients in the energy/infrastructure sector
• Extensive experience within the energy industry, with a focus on electrical networks, energy efficiency, smart grids, zero carbon generation of both heat and electricity and other behind the meter technologies.
• Experience in developing bespoke and new commercial models with customers particularly those involving capital investment.
• Experience with energy performance contracts and the measurement & verification of energy savings.
• Understanding of energy systems modelling, including simulation and optimisation of multi-vector systems will be essential.
• Technical underpinning within an engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical, energy or building services, ideally with a strong University degree. A relevant postgraduate degree will be considered a plus.
• Business development experience, including liaising with clients, responding to tenders and leading bid teams.
• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team of energy professionals with challenging profit and growth targets.
