About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices around the UK and Ireland.
Salary: Up to £69,100 / €97,000 depending on skills and experience + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Key to our growth ambition, SSE Renewables Onshore Europe have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer to support our engineering activities across the pipeline of onshore wind development projects.
Some of your main accountabilities will include;
- Leading the delivery of early stage engineering development activities in line with project governance and assurance requirements, including due diligence actions.
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering resource on onshore development projects, driving value by identifying and delivering on design refinement and improvement opportunities.
- Implementing the requirements defined within SSE's Governance Framework and associated procedures relating to design assurance, safety, quality, and cost.
- Co-ordination of project interfaces bringing multi-disciplinary stakeholders together, facilitating regular updates from the team and producing action plans to ensure satisfactory resolution of risks and issues in a timely manner.
- Supporting the decision-making process by working with the team and external stakeholders, producing robust recommendations to senior project management.

What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would be looking for you to have:
- Experience of design development on a range of onshore technologies e.g. wind, hydro, solar, hydrogen, battery storage.
- Demonstrable experience of design, development and delivery of onshore renewables projects, including the delivery of Due Diligence/Technical Assurance/Governance on large capital projects.
- Demonstrable experience of bringing a multi-disciplinary team together with a common purpose, together with previous experience of coordinating technical support and external stakeholders, to provide expert opinion and approval across design reviews, key decisions and risk reviews.
- Enthusiasm and commitment to deliver engineering excellence on world class projects, with the ability to challenge the status quo and strive for continuous improvement.
- A degree qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in a similar role with a passion for renewable energy.
