Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

What is the Role?

As a Geotechnical & Geophysical Survey Manager, you'll play a key role in our Engineering and Innovation Centre's Geoscience Team providing survey management & geoscience support to our offshore wind portfolio of projects.

Main accountabilities may include:

• Planning, execution, and delivery of various offshore geotechnical and geophysical surveys.
• Inputting into geotechnical engineering activities including laboratory test management, interpretation, and ground modelling.
• Reviewing technical reports by third parties, including desk studies, factual reports, geotechnical interpretative reports, lab test schedules, and more.
• Ensuring survey works are delivered to contract requirements and specifications, proactively managing delays and challenges and the management of survey budgets.

What do I need?

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and who is educated to degree level in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline and have a comprehensive understanding of legislation and operational standards in regard to offshore site investigation.  Holding Chartership or working towards your Chartership Professional Review with either Institution of Civil Engineers or The Geological Society would be an advantage.

Due to the nature of this role, we would love you to have experience in the majority of the following areas:

• Design, tendering, and management of offshore ground investigation and laboratory test scheduling.
• Experience of supervising geotechnical works on Jack-ups & drilling vessels for Export & Inter Array Cable and WTG lease area characterisation and design.  
• Experience of supervising geophysical surveys to support all stages and components of offshore wind development.  
• Interpretation of ground investigation results and ground modelling.
• Geo hazard and risk management.

A level of travel will be required, therefore, you should have a full and valid driving license.
