About the Role

Base Location: Perth, Clunie Power Station, Inverness (Contin)

Salary: £45,592 – £55,653 depending on skills and experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

We are privileged to be responsible for sustaining and growing SSE Renewables business and we are recruiting a key position in the Hydro Assets - Programmes team to drive forward this objective through the diligent development and delivery of Hydro Power station refurbishment projects at key operational assets. This is an exceptional and unique opportunity to contribute to the future success of the Hydro business in a rewarding environment. 

Some of your main accountabilities will include;

- Contract management in Hydro Projects. You will be expected to plan, organise and execute delivery of design, services and works contracts, ensuring completion to Quality, budget and schedule. Works can include complex schemes with multi-party interfaces over multiple years and a proven capability is essential. 

- Review and refine initial concepts, working towards a design that generates value through safety, maximises operational efficiency and plant availability through experience and innovation.

- Working as an electrical engineer, you will be working with a team of discipline engineers to develop an integrated solution for Large Capital Projects, the ability to interface and identify and manage risks through design with other disciplines is essential.

- Input to assist the development and delivery of future budgets, financial management and control during works with clear and accurate reporting of complex multiyear works is important. 

- Input to assist the development and delivery of contract related documentation including works scope, functional specifications, and design documents as well as final, as built documentation.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Qualified to degree level in an Electrical discipline, or alternatively to HNC level with demonstrable experience in large industrial projects environments.

- Experienced in the Hydro or broadly the power industry operational environment is an advantage.

- Technical experience on Electrical rotating equipment up to HV Machines, Excitation systems, HV cables and switchgear with electrical protection experience being an advantage. 

- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive work whilst forming part of a project team are essential.

- Knowledge of the British and European Grid codes and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) codes along with experience liaising or interfacing with National Grid ESO or DNO's is an advantage.
