About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around Ireland.

Salary: €55,500 - €83,300 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

About the Department

SSE's in-house legal function operates across the SSE Group to ensure business actions and behaviours are aligned to business priorities, are legally sound and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, responsibility and ethical behaviour. We identify and rationalise legal risk, providing advice on both regulatory and statutory obligations, all whilst helping the business to achieve their strategic goals.

What is the Role?

The Property Solicitor will have responsibility for:

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of property acquisition and land use agreements (e.g. leases, options, purchases, sales, rights of way/ wayleaves etc.) for onshore and offshore projects on behalf of SSE Renewables.

- Responsibility for dealing with Property Registration Authority applications and queries.

- Advising and supporting key stakeholders in respect of all aspects of property-related matters e.g. interpretation of legal agreements, potential landlord/ tenant disputes etc.

- Instructing external legal counsel as required, to include managing relationships and maximising value for money, while minimising the overall cost to the SSE Group.

- Advising/ supporting in respect of ad-hoc legal queries/ agreements e.g. commercial agreements, non-disclosure agreements, co-operation agreements etc.

- Providing assistance and support to the Renewables Legal Team as required.

What do I need?

To be considered for the role, we'd love you to have:

- A qualification as a solicitor in Ireland. Applicants of all levels of PQE (including newly qualified solicitors) are welcome to apply.

- Broad experience and understanding of property matters including drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of property agreements (e.g. leases, purchases, sales, options, rights of way/ wayleaves etc.) as well as experience in title investigation/ due diligence and handling registrations with the Property Registration Authority.

- Experience of planning law, which would be beneficial but not essential.

- The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team, supporting both colleagues on the legal team and stakeholders across the business.

- Clear communication skills and sound commercial judgment/awareness as well as being highly organised and efficient.

- Knowledge and experience of the energy sector, which would be advantageous.
