Job Title: Sales Director – Smart Buildings BEMS (South region)

Location: South East England

Salary: Highly Competitive package + bonus and car allowance

This is a head office leadership position contributing to the sales strategy, measured against the achievement of business order input budgets, with the opportunity for both business and personal growth. The Sales Director has management responsibility for sales strategy execution, sales skills development, and sales performance of a sales team reporting to regional Business Managers.

Our Smart Buildings business makes some of the most iconic buildings come alive!

We design, install, monitor, maintain and optimise building control systems and are part of SSE’s Distributed Energy division developing solutions for smart places – cities, campuses and buildings.

Our business helps achieve optimised working environments leading to reductions in buildings’ energy consumption through the installation and maintenance of a variety of building control technologies, including Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), and the application of data analytics to provide building performance insights.

We are one of the largest BEMS suppliers in the UK – a top 3 Honeywell Trend Technology Partner, and the first Siemens Master Partner in the world.

Working alongside our colleagues in SSE Distributed Energy we provide some of the most critical building control and energy generation services required by a Zero Carbon world – enabling commercial and public sector customers achieve their sustainability targets. In addition to building control technologies our smart energy infrastructure solutions include: solar PV, battery storage, heat networks, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

About the Role

As Project Sales Director you’ll be responsible for delivering the growth of the Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) contract order book through a team of regionally based sales professionals; work alongside the senior management team developing and executing the project sales strategy; help to cultivate sales skills through a process of continuous improvement and  performance management; will be personally involved in the relationship development with strategic suppliers and will help in the management of key customer accounts and opportunities.

This will include developing strong customer insights, the continuous development of customer account plans, leading the innovation process, market delivery, and optimising commercial and market performance, achieving this across multiple business streams involving colleagues from the wider Distributed Energy division

About You

Therefore, you’ll be expected to inject leadership energy, pace, rigour and commerciality combined with the passion to delight customers in everything we do.  You’ll demonstrate strong collaborative leadership, coaching and mentoring skills to direct reports and peers alike and will be rewarded with the opportunity of future leadership career progression.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be operating as a strategic sales leader with relevant experience within Building Energy Management Systems, complementary Building Management Services or Facilities Management Sectors. With a determination to grow our business you’ll bring credibility to lead within a complex organisation, by possessing an exceptional mix of commercial, sales, and delivery leadership skills.

You’ll also be able to demonstrate a good level of stakeholder engagement to meet your goals and you’ll have a strong understanding of key commercial concepts, which will include designing and implementing strategy, insight, value management, customer experience, forecasting and financial performance. Finally, you’ll have the ability to forge compelling commercial proposals, sell business cases and to responsibly manage budgets to create future value for SSE.

As you will be traveling in this role its essential that you hold a full driving licence.
