What is the Role? 

You’ll support SSE Distributed Energy’s Independent Connections Provider (ICP) business in the development of the required processes, capabilities and propositions for new electrical connection work.  Reporting to the ICP Sector Lead, the Project Development Manager (PDM) will be responsible for the development of new electricity infrastructure and connection projects. This will involve coordinating and leading each project through an internal governance cycle from inception to project closure and hand over to the relevant asset managers. 

You’ll will need to utilise resources and relationships efficiently through the Distributed Energy matrix to support the development and delivery of each project, ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget. In addition, the PDM will work closely with the asset managers through all stages of the project to ensure that the projects are designed and built to adoptable standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for ensuring projects pass through all governance stages, both pre and post contract award, ensuring appropriate intra group delivery measures are in place to deliver on the commitment made to the client, build the asset to required standard and ensure adoption
  • Demonstrating high standards to ensure that safety is at the heart of everything we do.  Supporting the requirement for everyone understanding our safety culture and is engaged with it, also communicating openly with staff at all levels and leads by example
  • Delivers and contributes to the sector budget and quality targets, monitoring progress against targets and proactively seeks positive outcomes in areas of under-performance
  • Building relationships with key suppliers and delivery partners to ensure best value for the customer, and the ability to implement new and innovative solutions
  • Reporting on project budget and deliverables; pipeline reporting for asset adopting parties; leads on relevant sections of governance gate meetings

What do I need?

To be considered, we’d love you to have:

- Experience in the electricity connections market, from a design and/or build perspective, in an ICP or IDNO

- Knowledge of the required regulations and accreditations to operate as an ICP

- Understanding of the contractor / sub-contractor working combined with experience of developing long term relations with supplier/partners with proven ability to develop and maintain an effective network of contacts

- Experience of developing projects and solutions with customers and stakeholders

- Compliance: uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to act independently while guiding and training others on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations with sound Financial and Commercial acumen 

You’ll also be a forward-thinking collaborator with an entrepreneurial approach with a strategic mindset.
