About the Role

Base Location: Berkshire

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time 

SSE Heat Network’s vision is to become the most trusted zero carbon heat network developer and operator in the UK .

We design, build, finance and operate low carbon heating, cooling and power networks.  As well as responding to tendered opportunities, we also develop our own projects aiming to build the new heat networks infrastructure which will support the UK’s transition to Net Zero.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing business as a Project Development Manager.  You will be responsible for leading the development of new district energy solutions to address customer’s requirements within SSE Heat Network’s key target markets which include new build and retrofit projects for private and public sector clients. We have an exciting portfolio of projects which will only grow as we help our clients achieve their urgent net zero goals.

As part of the bid team, consult customers on their strategic drivers.  Develop innovative technical solutions which are commercially attractive to these clients. Take projects from prospecting through to conceptual design and hand over to design teams to take ownership through to delivery.

Key accountabilities will also include:

  • Develop New Opportunities through from bid to completion, ensuring processes including Stakeholder Mapping and implementing Management information tools such as Salesforce.
  • Working on innovative new solutions to prove commercial viability and take to market this year Manage existing pipeline, circa £1.6m EBIT, and exceeding sales targets.
  • Develop new opportunities to ensure our offer remains competitive and relevant to a changing market
  • Support business development function to convert pipeline to order book

What do I need?

  • Knowledge of energy centre design and principles of operation
  • Good Working knowledge of relevant codes of practice on design
  • Excellent skills in combining commercial analysis with concept design to provide optimum techno-economic solution
  • Broad understanding of key technology including optimisation of combinations of technology
  • Excellent knowledge of building energy services and core energy infrastructure assets
