We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Policy, Regulation & External Affairs Manager to join our team. This role will focus on managing policy, regulatory obligations, and external affairs for SSE Renewables in the Netherlands. You'll be tasked with building and maintaining strong relationships with Dutch stakeholders and ensuring our projects, including the IJmuiden Ver Alpha project, align with government policies.
Your key responsibilities will include leading external stakeholder engagement, providing regulatory advice, and helping develop stakeholder engagement plans. You'll ensure our team understands the implications of maintaining our responsible developer credentials.
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders in the Netherlands including government officials, government agencies, industry associations, and non-governmental organisations.
Anticipate future challenges to reputation and ensure cross-SSE coordination on the approach to handling relevant external stakeholders.
Proactively engage with internal business stakeholders to assess regulation requirements and risks in different stages of project development.
Support in developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans for SSE Renewables’ projects in the Netherlands.
Work closely with our Head of Corporate Affairs Netherlands, SSE’s Country Manager Netherlands, and with the wider Corporate Affairs department to identify key business issues requiring support, ensuring alignment with business changes.
What do I need
We're looking for someone with a unique set of skills and experience.
Ability to achieve business objectives through engagement and communications.
Experience in regulatory or stakeholder engagement roles.
Proven track record of working collaboratively across a broad range of teams and stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written (English and Dutch language) communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence others.
First-class interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships.
