Salary: £54,952 - £64,738 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options (50% office based)

Are you currently looking for a new role, and are you passionate about Net Zero and making a difference? If yes, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Policy Engineer/Expert to join our team.

As a Policy Engineer you will have a unique opportunity to be part of the Connections Policy team and gain access to a range of projects and stakeholders, both internal and external to the business.

With Connections Reform and our new regulatory framework there will be significant changes to how we manage and operate our existing networks so there will be several great projects for the successful candidate to be involved in and to lead on.

You'll have opportunities to attend industry events and forums with third parties such as the UK Government, OZEV and Ofgem to discuss policy and related issues.

You will be:

  • Developing, reviewing, and maintaining policy associated with all aspects of connections.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policy and national and international standards across distribution.
  • Ensuring that the team deliver optimum performance in all set targets. You'll work closely with the Connections Policy Manager and be a key player in motivating the team.
  • Working to develop and monitor robust policies, processes and procedures to ensure regulatory and statutory compliance with licence obligations.

You will have:

  • A solid commercial understanding, and a strong knowledge of how networks operate; specific distribution and transmission knowledge would be a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum of HND in an engineering-based subject, we will also consider candidates with appropriate industry experience.
  • A track record of delivering successful operations and projects within a similar role and hold experience of managing third party project relationships, including experience working with regulatory bodies such as Ofgem and the Scottish Government.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relay complex messages in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Great organisation skills, and the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
