Salary: £38600 - £58000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

We are embedding business agility in our ways of working, building capability for a digital SSE of the future, meeting the needs of our customers in a new way.

The Organisational Effectiveness and Business Change Manager will be accountable for 3 key things: developing and implementing the organisational effectiveness plan across IT, the successful delivery of organisational initiatives arising from the IT Effectiveness Programme and supporting the BU CIOs and Business teams in their transition to agile / digital organisational structures.

To enable the businesses to move to agile ways of working - the role will play a key part in ensuring we are improving the hand offs that exist between the teams and will need to help to identify areas for tangible improvement and addressing these with visible results in terms of efficiencies, quality and minimized costs and waste. Driving business change activities will include stakeholder analysis, change impact and readiness assessments and relevant and easy to consume materials where appropriate. 

The role will also be responsible for the delivery and implementation of Organisational Effectiveness activities focused on making sure that IT has the right skills and capabilities moving forward.  The role will start to develop and embed a strategic resource management approach within IT.

The role holder will need to be able to articulate the need for change, the options available and the analysis that has been done in a compelling and engaging manner – with senior stakeholders across IT. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will partner with Senior Leaders within IT to identify the Organisational Design changes required and you will be accountable for creating and managing the change and communications plans.
  • You will collaborate with Senior IT Leaders to create future state designs that support the business strategy through robust data analysis and understanding of the current state and business problems/issues.
  • You will be accountable for designing and implementing a strategic resource management approach for IT – that will help to equip us with the right resource mix for the future.
  • You will be accountable for identifying / and then working on specific process improvements linked to the way different IT departments work with each other – with the aim of removing / reducing the impediments that stop us working collaboratively.
  • What do I need?

    To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Strong experience in managing change, and in particular changes to ways of working / organisational effectiveness.  With examples of where you have articulated the need for change, the options available and the analysis that has been done in a compelling and engaging manner with senior stakeholders.  
  • Subject matter knowledge/ background in change management - experience and knowledge of applying relevant change frameworks and activities (I.e. change impact assessments, stakeholder management, change readiness assessment, building and managing change networks).
  • Experience in working in agile environments and good practical knowledge of Agile. 
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement – particularly in a setting where you would be analysing, tracking, creating, planning and delivering projects.  And experience with working on a range of diverse, high volume, strategic change initiatives at the same time. 
  • Strategic management knowledge including operating models, corporate governance approaches and potentially business separation / integration.
